Meet Team Infinit Athlete - Erika Rankin

My name is Erika Rankin and I am an aspiring 15-year-old triathlete. I started participating in triathlon at the age of 10, when my swim coach urged me to try the local Lindsay Kids of Steel. I continued to participate in triathlons in my area at a non-competitive level. I gradually started to increase the amount of races I competed in and progressively became more competitive.  I bought my first road bike a year after my first triathlon and when I was 12 years old I joined the Peterborough Pirates Triathlon Club, deciding to become a competitive triathlete.  I currently train with the Peterborough Pirates and am training six times a week with them, involving all three aspects; swimming, biking, and running.  I also have continued to swim competitively with the Lindsay Lightning bolts Swim Club three times a week and compete in track and cross-country within my school.  Track, presently, is three to four times per week as well, and during the cross-country season I train approximately the same amount of time per week.

This summer I will be competing as an elite athlete in the 16-19-age category. This summer, in

National Junior Series races, I hope to place in the top 20 out of the elite competitors. At the Toronto Triathlon Festival, I also would like to earn a spot to compete at the 2016 World Championships in Mexico. Being one of the youngest competitors I understand the need for determination, tenacity and passion, and with these aspects it will help me to achieve my goals. In re
lation to long-term goals, I hope to one day compete at an ITU race as well as the Pan Am games in triathlon.

It is crucial that you never give up on your goals, or they might never be achieved.

We work with a few junior triathletes - adding Erika to that list was easy.  She possess an incredible work ethic, clear goals and these extend beyond the sport of Triathlon - we are proud to be supporting Erika's growth and development in the sport.  We look forward to tracking her progress this season.

Best of luck this season Erika!
