The Infinit Canada Difference for Lionel Sanders

When Lionel first came to us back in 2015, he was just coming off a traumatic experience at Ironman Texas. Lionel finished the race in 4th place, but had lost 10% of his body weight due to dehydration. That's when we came in - previously his nutrition and hydration were holding him back, now he is reaching his full potential with a custom formulation designed specifically for his needs.  Since his 14th place finish at the Kona World Championships last year, he has won Ironman Arizona and 4 - 70.3 races, including dominating a stacked field at the IRONMAN 70.3 North American Pro Championship in St. George.

With the help of our Nutrition Experts, Lionel now fully understands the importance of proper nutrition and hydration not only while racing, but throughout training as well. We wanted to share a special message from Lionel below...

WE - Care Cookie Program

We are 25% of the way to our goal!  Thanks to the 6 Windsor-Essex companies that have already made a commitment to this program.  We are working hard to get another 18 on board.

Here is a little background on the why and what we are trying to do:

Background:

I am one of many volunteers at the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre.  As volunteers we try to make patients and families as comfortable as they can be while they receive treatment at the Centre.  We get to greet patients and families, assist with directions, provide warm blankets, offer a smile or an ear, and provide cookies and beverages from our four snack and beverage carts.  Just over a year ago, we made some changes to the cookie program: all cookies are now individually wrapped for hygienic reasons.  While this made an improvement on the health side, it lead to a great reduction in the cookies we offer, and you’d be amazed the difference a good cookie can make in the life of a patient or loved-one dealing with cancer.   We are limited to one cookie type and crackers due to the available budget.  This may seem like a minor change, but it is the one item I hear most about from our patients: “I remember when we had all those different cookies - it was so nice to look forward to.”

WE-Care Cookie Program Highlights:

·       A program which is funded by 24 organizations in Windsor-Essex that will fund the purchase of a variety of individually wrapped cookies for cancer patients and their loved-ones (and hopefully make the experience just a bit more bearable). Each company participating will donate $600.

·       All companies taking part in the program will be featured on plaques donated by “The Trophy Boys” to be placed on each of the four Coffee and Snack carts.

·       Cookies will be purchased once per month at Costco.

·       All companies will be invited to the launch of the program with the date to be determined (aiming for July 2016).

All donations will be made directly to the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation and funds will be dispersed monthly to purchase cookies.

We hope to have an update in 2 weeks time that is announcing we have achieved the goal and we have a start date for the WE - Care Cookie Program.
